CLONE. This isn't a power, per se, but being a clone means that her powers are very similar, if not completely identical, to that of her "biological parent", Wolverine.

REGENERATIVE HEALING FACTOR. Laura's primary ability is her healing factor, which allows her to regenerate bone and tissue at a much higher speed and efficiency than ordinary humans. Her healing abilities are advanced enough to reattach severed extremities, as well as re-growing an entire arm (Laura doesn't recommend trying it for yourself). Her healing factor also means that Laura is immune to foreign chemicals and disease.

BONE CLAWS. Laura has two retractable bone claws at the end of each hand, as well as one on each of her feet which she is able to extend and retract at will. The claws are naturally sharper and tougher than ordinary human bone which allows Laura to cut through flesh as well as most other materials. This natural toughness is what allows the claws to extend through her skin, as she must cut through layers of muscle and tissue in order to extend her claws. These wounds are quickly repaied by her healing factor.

LONGEVITY. It is assumed that like Wolverine, Laura will have an extended lifespan thanks to her healing factor, though only time will tell if this is the case.

SUPERHUMAN ABILITIES. In addition to having super durability in battle, Laura also has superhuman stamina, agility and reflexes, along with superhumanly acute senses.

ETC. Laura's non-mutation abilities include her expert covert ops training, tracking abilities, proficiency in the martial arts and being multilingual.

- X-23, AKA Laura Kinney was born during a nefarious attempt to recreate the original Weapon X experiment which had created the mutant Wolverine. Initial attempts to graft adamantium to the skeleton of an adult human were failing terribly, and so the creators of the project contacted mutant geneticist Dr. Sarah Kinney and tasked her with creating a clone instead.

- The only genetic sample available to the team had a badly damaged Y chromosome which failed to produce a clone after twenty-two attempts. Dr. Kinney's suggestion to create a female clone with the intact X chromosome were flatly turned down. Disregarding orders from her superiors, Kinney successfully produced a viable female subject, which caused the project leaders to reconsider. They would allow this clone to attempt to grow to term, but as punishment Kinney would have to be the surrogate mother. "X-23", the twenty-third attempt to clone the Wolverine's mutagenic abilities for their own purposes was born without a hitch.

- Raised and trained to be nothing more than a weapon, X-23's mutant abilities were chemically brought to fruition via radiation poisoning at the age of seven. Her bone claws were forcibly extracted from her body at this point and coated with the same substance which covered Wolverine's, Adamantium. X-23 continued to be raised in the only manner she knew, training daily and receiving punishment from her handler, Kimura, any time she did anything wrong. Perfection was the goal. Nothing else would be acceptable.

- In order to guarantee that when X-23 was working a job no one would be left standing, a "trigger scent" was developed which would cause the girl to go into a berzerker rage when she smelled the compound. This scent was exposed to Dr. Kinney and when X-23 smelled it on her surrogate mother, the only person who tried to give her some semblance of a normal life and teach her what it meant to be human, she had no control over herself. Dr. Kinney's dying word was "Laura". X-23 now had a name, and no one could take that away from her.

- As the years went on, Laura continued to train. Three years after killing Dr. Kinney, Laura's services began being sold to the highest bidder, taking her all around the world and leaving the ten year old emotionally stunted. The training, assassinations and head games her handlers would play on Laura continued for years.

- Laura escaped from the facility at fourteen, locating her mother's living family through some information she had managed to acquire from the facility's database. Telling Sarah's sister Debbie and her daughter Megan that she was Sarah's daughter, Laura moved in with them for a short time before she was found. An agent from the facility attempted to cause Laura to kill her aunt and cousin in the same manner that they had her kill Sarah, but Laura caught the man as he was setting up the scent trap and killed him instead. Knowing that Debbie and Megan would not be safe if she stayed with them, Laura left.

- It took two years for Laura to make it from her Aunt's home in San Francisco to North Salem, New York, the home of Charles Xavier, the man that Laura thought would be able to track down the man who made her existence possible. During those two years Laura fought, stole, killed and did any number of things to survive. Muggers and thugs who thought they could have a little fun with the girl learned quickly what it was like to slip and fall into a pool of their own blood. Laura would find companionship with the grimy underbelly of a city for a short while, but something would always go wrong and Laura would move one city closer to Xavier and her answers.

- Laura arrived at Xavier's in September. Not only did she find Xavier, but she found Logan as well. She's provided more answers to them than they have to her, but she was invited to stay on at the school and complete the half-formed education that her years at the facility provided her. After sixteen years, Laura has more of a stable "home life" than she ever imagined she would have. However, getting used to the fact that these people care about her well being because they care about her instead of what she can do is taking to time to adjust to.
